How to sell Steam items in bulk without costly mistakes

Selling in bulk can save hours, but it also makes expensive mistakes easy: one action can list a hundred items, including an unusual example worth twenty times the standard price. The workflow below is designed to prevent that.
Preparing a big sale: selection, exceptions for expensive items, test run and checking the result. Plus why it’s better not to touch cheap items.
Step 1: choose what to sell
Sort your inventory by price and divide it into three groups. Expensive copies - everything that is more expensive than several thousand rubles. The liquid middle is something that can be sold in packs. Penny tail - items cheaper than a few rubles.
It’s better not to touch the tail at all: the minimum commission Steam eats up more than half the price, and selling hundreds of such items gives an amount for which it was not worth starting.
Expensive copies are taken out of the mass operation completely and sold one at a time, by hand, after checking float, pattern and stickers.
Step 2: set aside unusual items
Write down separately everything that should not go on mass sale: expensive items, items with stickers, equipment equipped in the game, collectibles, gifts.
Separately mark items with active exchange blocking - they will still not be sold, but will create noise in the list.
This list is needed specifically by those who have been recorded. When you have a hundred positions in front of you and a “sell everything” button, your memory doesn’t work well.
- The same name does not mean the same value - check the groups before selling.
- Remove equipped items in advance, otherwise you will get an error in the middle of the operation.
- Expensive sticker crafts with stickers are never sold en masse.
Step 3: run a small trial
Before the main operation, sell one cheap item in the same way that you are going to sell everything. Check what price the instrument set, how much was spent on the commission and what was actually credited to the wallet.
Look especially carefully at what the substituted price is calculated from: from the current best bid to buy, from the cheapest lot or from the median. The difference between these options on a hundred items adds up to a noticeable amount.
If the tool offers automatic price selection, check it manually on several positions. Automation often sets the price at the lower limit in order to sell faster.
Step 4: list and confirm
Each ad is confirmed in the Steam mobile application. During a mass sale, there will be a lot of confirmations, and the application has the ability to accept them in batches.
This is where attention is most often lost: they confirm everything without looking. Before mass confirmation, scroll through the list and make sure that there is nothing on your exclusion list.
Never enable automatic confirmation of transactions in third-party tools. This is exactly the function that one day will not work as you expected.
Step 5: check the results
After the operation, open the active ads section in Steam itself, and not in a third-party tool. Check the number of items and prices.
If something is offered at the wrong price, remove the item immediately before it is bought. A removed ad returns the item to inventory without loss.
After a few days, check to see what hasn't sold. Stuck positions usually mean that the price is higher than the market or the item is less liquid than it seemed.
Frequently asked questions
How to sell many items at once in Steam?
Steam does not have standard mass operations - third-party extensions are used. Before this, you need to take out expensive items and make a test sale on one cheap item.
Should you sell cheap items?
On items worth a couple of rubles, the minimum commission takes more than half the price. It is usually better to leave them alone.
How not to sell an expensive skin by mistake?
Create a written list of exceptions prior to surgery and review the confirmation list in the app prior to mass acceptance.
Is it possible to cancel a mass sale?
You can remove every ad that has not yet been purchased - the item will return to your inventory. Items already sold cannot be returned.
Is automatic confirmation of transactions safe?
No. Irreversible actions must be confirmed manually and after checking the composition.
